Your Very Local Dog Groomer

The Furry Pit Stop was founded in 2024 by me, Ann. A resident of Treeton for most of my life, having grown up in the village since I was four. But you are more likely to know my father John or even “Chapman’s”. He was the village mechanic and car body repairer. In fact, it’s in his old office where you can find my salon. The building itself originally belonged to the church, backing on to the colliery before he used it to set up business in the village. It’s this combination of history where the name Furry Pit Stop got its name, Treeton Pit and my Dad’s mechanic’s pit.

Your Pet My Passion

Growing up animals my passion, for a long time I wanted to be a welfare inspector for the RSPCA but those plans didn’t materialise. After raising my three children, I took a job working for Cohen’s chemist in the village, delivering to prescriptions during Covid and eventually working in the shop dispensing. Whilst  working there wondering what to do with this lovely old stone building in our drive, my mother-in-law pointed out it would make a lovely dog grooming salon. Why that of all things I have no idea, looking back I think she was right. Fast forward a few years after spending a long time training at Wigfield Farm College in Barnsley, the Furry Pit Stop dog grooming salon was born.

I absolutely love meeting all the dogs of Treeton and surrounding areas, and in most cases even their owners. I’ve already made lots of new friends both with and without fur and looking forward to meeting more of you.
